Updated September 2026 — By Edin Chavez | National Geographic Photographer | Nikon | 20 Years Shooting Miami
I have been shooting Miami for over 20 years. Born here, based here, shooting here every week. Every location on this list is somewhere I personally return to with my Nikon. This is not a recycled blog post — this is my real working list, updated for 2026. No other photographer on earth has spent more time finding the best photography spots Miami has to offer.

The 50 Best Photography Spots in Miami Florida (2026)
Covering all of Greater Miami — Downtown, Brickell, Wynwood, Little Havana, Coconut Grove, Coral Gables, Key Biscayne, Miami Beach, Aventura, and beyond. Every location personally shot and verified by Edin Chavez.
Downtown Miami & Brickell
1. MacArthur Causeway — Under the Bridge
Best time: Blue hour and night
What you get: The MacArthur Causeway bridge columns frame the downtown Miami skyline in one of the most dramatic compositions in the city. Park at the Miami Children’s Museum, walk under the bridge facing west. Long exposure mandatory — 15-30 seconds at f/11, ISO 100.

2. MacArthur Causeway — Top of the Bridge
Best time: Sunset
What you get: One of the highest publicly accessible points overlooking both Biscayne Bay and the Miami skyline. Access from the south side, park at the Children’s Museum. The view encompasses the Port of Miami, Miami Beach, and downtown all at once.

3. Brickell Key
Best time: Sunset and night
What you get: An island in Biscayne Bay connected by a single bridge. Looking east toward downtown from the tip of Brickell Key gives you the full Miami skyline reflected in the water. One of the cleanest skyline compositions in the city.

4. Bayside Marketplace Bridge
Best time: Sunset and night
What you get: Walk up the pedestrian bridge from Bayside Mall for elevated views of the Port of Miami and the bay. Wide angle essential — this is a 14-24mm shot. The bridge gives you foreground interest with the downtown skyline behind.

5. The Miami River — Downtown Walk
Best time: Night
What you get: The Miami River Greenway runs through downtown. At night the bridges, the tugboats, the city lights reflecting in the dark water make for extraordinary industrial urban photography. Walk west from Brickell Avenue Bridge for the best compositions.

6. Downtown Brickell Skyscrapers
Best time: Night
What you get: The Brickell skyline is one of the fastest-growing in America. Look up — the glass towers create kaleidoscopic patterns at night. Shoot from street level with a wide angle pointed straight up for the most dramatic architectural compression.

7. Brickell City Centre
Best time: Any time — the architecture works in any light
What you get: The Climate Ribbon — a massive translucent canopy over the open-air mall — creates extraordinary light patterns. Modern architectural photography at its best.

8. Alice Wainwright Park
Best time: Sunrise
What you get: A small waterfront park in Coconut Grove with palm trees, bay views, and the iconic “Miami” benches. Almost no tourists. The sunrise light here is extraordinary and the reflections in Biscayne Bay are stunning in calm conditions.

Miami Beach & South Beach
9. South Pointe Park & Pier
Best time: Sunrise and sunset
What you get: The tip of Miami Beach. Looking north you see the full Miami Beach skyline. Looking west is the port and cruise ships. Looking east is the open Atlantic. This is the single most versatile photography location in all of Miami.

10. South Pointe Park — West Side
Best time: Sunset
What you get: The western waterfront of South Pointe faces the Government Cut channel. Watch massive cruise ships pass at close range while the sun sets over the port. An experience and a photograph.

11. Ocean Drive — Art Deco District
Best time: Night (neon signs) and sunrise (empty streets)
What you get: The most photographed street in Miami. The Beacon, Clevelander, and Cardozo hotels. Scarface was filmed here. At 5am the street is empty — that is when you get the shot of a lifetime.

12. Miami Beach Lifeguard Towers
Best time: Sunrise
What you get: The pastel Art Deco lifeguard towers are the most iconic image of Miami Beach. Tower 12 at 12th Street, Tower 10 at 10th Street, Tower 5 at 5th Street — all extraordinary at sunrise. Get low in the sand and shoot wide.

13. The Rocks at 30th Street Beach
Best time: Sunrise during low tide
What you get: Natural rock formations on the beach create foreground interest for the sunrise. Almost no one knows these rocks exist. Low tide is essential — you can walk out to the rocks for the best angles.

14. Maurice Gibb Memorial Park
Best time: Sunset
What you get: West-facing waterfront with the Miami skyline across the bay. No tourists at sunset. I come here constantly — it is 5 minutes from my home. The reflections in calm water conditions are extraordinary.

15. Venetian Causeway
Best time: Night and sunset
What you get: Seven connected islands between Miami Beach and Downtown. The bridge sections give elevated views of the bay and skyline. Rent a bike and ride across — the midpoint of each bridge span is where the best compositions are.

16. Faena Hotel — Golden Mammoth
Best time: Any time
What you get: The only full-size gilded mammoth sculpture in the world, in front of the Faena Hotel on Collins Avenue. Damien Hirst created it. It is right on the beach at 34th Street — completely surreal and completely Miami.

17. Miami Beach Surfers
Best time: Winter mornings after a cold front
What you get: Miami rarely has waves, but after a cold front pushes through from the north, 3-5 foot swells arrive and surfers come out at sunrise. Shoot from the shore with a 70-200mm compressed against the sunrise sky.

North Miami Beach & Aventura
18. Sunny Isles Pier
Best time: Sunrise
What you get: A long fishing pier extending into the Atlantic. At sunrise you are looking west — the pier leads your eye toward the pastel sky over the barrier islands. Almost always empty. One of the most peaceful sunrise spots in Miami.

19. Bal Harbour Beach
Best time: Sunrise
What you get: One of the cleanest, least crowded beaches in Miami. The Atlantic sunrise here is unobstructed. Combine with Haulover Inlet (5 minutes north) for a full morning shoot.

20. Haulover Inlet
Best time: Sunrise and storm light
What you get: The inlet between the Atlantic and Biscayne Bay. Boats pass through at close range, the lighthouse is photogenic, and during storm season the wave action is dramatic. I shot one of my best images here during a hurricane season squall.

Coconut Grove, Coral Gables & South Miami
21. Vizcaya Museum and Gardens
Best time: Morning (before crowds, soft light on stone)
What you get: A 1916 Italian Renaissance villa on Biscayne Bay. The gardens, the bay barge, the stone bridge, the terraces — every corner is a composition. $22 entry fee. Worth every cent. This is the most photogenic architecture in Miami.

22. Matheson Hammock Park
Best time: Sunset
What you get: A man-made tidal atoll pool with calm water reflecting the sunset sky. Popular for engagement shoots for good reason — it is extraordinarily beautiful. The palm trees, the still water, and the sunset behind Biscayne Bay create a tropical paradise composition.

23. Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden
Best time: Morning (soft diffused light under the canopy)
What you get: 83 acres of tropical plants, palms, cycads, and flowering trees. During Art Basel week in December it becomes an outdoor sculpture garden. The best botanical photography location in South Florida. Entry fee required.

24. Deering Estate
Best time: Sunrise
What you get: A preserved 1920s estate on Biscayne Bay in South Miami. The shoreline, the mangroves, the historic buildings, and the bay views are extraordinary. Entry fee ($20). Check hours before going — it is not always open.

25. Key Biscayne Beach — Crandon Park
Best time: Sunset
What you get: The most pristine beach in Miami. Dog-friendly. The calm water facing west gives incredible sunset reflections. The drive over the Rickenbacker Causeway itself is a photo op — pull over at the bridge for skyline views.

26. Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park
Best time: Sunrise
What you get: The Cape Florida Lighthouse — the oldest standing structure in Miami-Dade County, built in 1825. The lighthouse at sunrise with the Atlantic behind it is one of the most iconic images in South Florida. $8 entry fee. Walk south from the parking lot to the lighthouse.
27. Rickenbacker Causeway — Virginia Key Bridge
Best time: Sunset
What you get: The bridge connecting Key Biscayne to the mainland gives elevated views of Biscayne Bay and the downtown Miami skyline. Pull over in the designated areas for the best angles.
Wynwood, Little Havana & Design District
28. Wynwood Walls
Best time: Early morning (before crowds) or Art Basel week (December)
What you get: The world’s largest open-air street art museum. Every wall is a museum-quality mural by internationally recognized artists. Bring a model or shoot alone — every angle is a portfolio image. Stop at Panther Coffee after.

29. Wynwood Streets — NW 2nd Avenue
Best time: Blue hour
What you get: Beyond the Walls, the surrounding streets are covered in murals. The side streets off NW 2nd Ave have some of the best murals in the city and almost no tourists. Walk 3 blocks in any direction from the Walls.
30. Little Havana — Calle Ocho
Best time: Daytime, especially on Viernes Culturales (last Friday of every month)
What you get: The heart of Cuban Miami. Domino players at Maximo Gomez Park, cigar rollers, the Walk of Fame stars, rooster sculptures, and the most vibrant street life in Miami. The best street photography in the entire city.

31. Little Havana — Tower Theater
Best time: Night
What you get: The 1926 Tower Theater on SW 8th Street is a gorgeous Art Deco cinema with neon signage. At night the marquee lights are extraordinary. The surrounding block has some of the most authentic Cuban architecture in the city.
32. Miami Design District
Best time: Daytime
What you get: The luxury retail district between Wynwood and Midtown has extraordinary architecture — the Fly’s Eye Dome, the Institute of Contemporary Art, the mirrored facades of the luxury boutiques. Pure architectural photography.
33. Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM)
Best time: Sunset and blue hour
What you get: The hanging gardens on the bay-facing facade of PAMM are architecturally stunning. The museum sits directly on Biscayne Bay with downtown as the backdrop. Free on select days. The outdoor sculpture garden is always free.
Watson Island & Beyond
34. Watson Island
Best time: Sunset
What you get: Sits in Biscayne Bay between Miami and Miami Beach. The only spot in Miami where you can photograph both the downtown Miami skyline AND the Miami Beach skyline in the same frame. This is a composition no other location gives you.
35. Jungle Island
Best time: Sunset
What you get: Also on Watson Island. The waterfront faces west toward downtown Miami — the sunset behind the skyline from this angle is extraordinary. The tropical vegetation frames the skyline perfectly.
Natural & Wilderness Locations
36. Everglades National Park
Best time: Sunrise and sunset, dry season (Nov-April) for wildlife
What you get: One of the most extraordinary landscapes on earth — 1.5 million acres of subtropical wilderness 45 minutes from downtown Miami. The Anhinga Trail at dawn gives you eye-level bird photography. The Pa-hay-okee Overlook at sunset is otherworldly. This is where I made some of my best-selling fine art prints.

37. Boca Chita Key — Biscayne National Park
Best time: Sunset
What you get: A small island in Biscayne National Park accessible only by boat. A historic lighthouse, a protected harbor, and views across the bay toward Miami. Charter a boat from Black Point Marina (40 minutes south). One of the most unique photography locations in all of South Florida.

38. Oleta River State Park
Best time: Morning
What you get: The largest urban park in Florida. Mangrove tunnels, kayaking trails, and pristine bay views. Rent a kayak and paddle into the mangrove channels for water-level nature photography unlike anything else in Miami.
39. Arch Creek Park
Best time: Morning
What you get: A natural limestone arch over a creek — one of the rarest geological features in South Florida. Small park, rarely visited. The arch itself is one of the most unusual photography subjects in Miami.
40. Coral Castle
Best time: Any time
What you get: Technically in Homestead (45 min south) but worth the drive. An extraordinary sculpture garden of massive coral stone structures built by one man over 28 years. Completely surreal architecture photography.
Secret & Local Spots
41. Julia Tuttle Causeway Fishing Pier
Best time: Sunrise
What you get: The old Julia Tuttle Causeway structure — now a fishing pier — gives you elevated views of Biscayne Bay looking toward downtown. Almost no tourists. One of my personal favorite early morning spots.
42. Pelican Harbor Marina
Best time: Sunrise
What you get: Fishing boats, pelicans, and the bay at first light. The most authentic working waterfront photography in Miami Beach. Not a tourist attraction — a real working marina.
43. Morningside Park
Best time: Sunrise
What you get: A hidden bayfront park in Miami’s historic Morningside neighborhood. The long dock extends into Biscayne Bay with the downtown skyline in the background. Almost completely unknown.
44. Legion Park
Best time: Sunday morning (farmer’s market)
What you get: The best farmer’s market in Miami draws the real Miami community — families, artists, chefs. Extraordinary candid documentary photography of authentic Miami life.
45. Pérez Art Museum — Waterfront Terrace
Best time: Blue hour
What you get: The outdoor terrace at PAMM faces Biscayne Bay. The hanging gardens, the sculptures, and the bay at blue hour with the Port of Miami in the distance. Free to access the outdoor areas.
46. Adrienne Arsht Center
Best time: Night
What you get: The performing arts center in downtown Miami has extraordinary Modernist architecture. At night the illuminated glass and concrete facades create dramatic architectural images.
47. Freedom Tower
Best time: Night
What you get: The 1925 Mediterranean Revival tower — “the Ellis Island of the South” — lit up at night in downtown Miami. One of the most beautiful and historically significant buildings in the city.
48. PortMiami Cruise Ship Channel
Best time: Early morning and late afternoon (ship departures)
What you get: The largest cruise port in the world. Massive ships depart through Government Cut at close range. From South Pointe Park you can photograph ships that fill the entire frame of a 70-200mm lens passing within 200 feet.
49. Little River — Historic District
Best time: Daytime
What you get: Miami’s emerging arts district north of Wynwood. Warehouses converted to galleries, studios, and restaurants. The raw industrial aesthetic is completely unlike the rest of Miami — the best location for gritty urban photography in the city.
50. Coconut Grove — Grand Avenue
Best time: Daytime and Coconut Grove Arts Festival (February)
What you get: Miami’s oldest neighborhood, filled with Bahamian architecture, banyan trees, and the most bohemian street life in the city. During the Arts Festival in February it becomes the largest outdoor art exhibition in the southeastern US.

Edin, great types for someone directly on the other side of the coast.
Thank you, Bob, now you know where to go when you are down here :)
Hey Edin,
Where in the Miami River did you take this photo? Was this close to Brickell?
This is west of the Icon, very easy to find under the people mover. I hope that helps.
Loved the article and your photos.
I’m going to Miami in August. Any suggestions where to stay so I can do as much walking to spots as possible? I also enjoy looking for unique or unusual places. Suggestions on that also?
Thanks.
Steve
Thank you, Steve, I would stay in Miami Beach somewhere between 1st street and 22nd street. This is very central and close to everything, very walking friendly and our uber friendly. I hope that helps :)
Thanks for the fast response. Any ideas for places off the beaten path?
Not of the top of my head, I will let you know if I think of something :)
Cool beans.
Thank you so much for this list, def got the juices flowing in some good locations
My pleasure Im happy to help :)
Vizcaya charges for taking pictures there? Are there any places that are free and not the beach? We’re getting married at the beach . . . looking for other ideas
There are a lot of cool parks out there, however, most of them charge. Check out Wynwood, its a cool place for photos.
Vizcaya looked amazing, found out it’s $200 for any kind of portrait shoot, will have to reserve it for paid shoots :(
Yea they are a bit crazy with their prices. I did a commercial shoot there and it was not cheap.
Good stuff here. Great spots for automotive footage.
Thank you, I am always happy to help.
