Choosing a fine art photography print is only half the decision. How and where you display it transforms both the print and the space it occupies. This room-by-room guide covers size recommendations, framing, and lighting for every environment.

Living Room

Best sizes: 24×36″, 30×40″, or 40×60″ for the primary wall. A large print should fill at least two-thirds of the wall it occupies. For a standard 8-foot wall, 24×36″ is the minimum for a statement piece. Use a 40×60″ for rooms with cathedral ceilings.

Bedroom

Best sizes: 16×20″ or 20×30″ above the headboard. The print should be no wider than the headboard itself. Calm, horizontal compositions work best in bedrooms — seascapes, landscapes, and abstract work.

Home Office

Best sizes: 11×14″ to 16×20″. Aviation photography, cityscapes, and dramatic landscapes work particularly well in professional spaces. The subject should reflect ambition and achievement.

Hallway

Best sizes: Vertical orientations, 11×14″ to 16×24″. Tall narrow prints work best in hallways. Portrait-oriented photographs or narrow panoramas.

Framing Recommendations

  • Use UV-filtering glass or acrylic to protect the print
  • A simple white or natural wood frame works with any subject
  • Allow at least 2–3 inches of mat around the print
  • For metal prints — no frame needed, the float mount creates a finished edge
